Meet Devra Betts, The Wellness Architect

While seeking answers to my health challenges I went on a journey that led me to understand how my food and lifestyle habits compromised my sleep,  mood, stress response,  joy, cravings, even my ability to string two thoughts together or remember why I walked into a room.

Wellness was an illusive dream. I had to wake up, create new habits and restore my health and vitality.
Now, I teach ministry leaders how to design a life they love with a personalized wellness blueprint that nurtures the body, soul, and spirit to ultimately live out the calling and purpose they were created for.

I ate cabbage soup, and became a vegan for 5 minutes...

I woke up one day and realized my body was in full revolt. My gallbladder had been removed and I struggled with digestive issues every day. I suffered from brain fog, fatigue, food and environmental allergies, joint pain and a variety of other symptoms that prevented me from doing many of the things I loved.

Then my doctor told me that diabetes and heart disease which prematurely took the life of my parents was where I was headed if something didn't change soon. I was frustrated. I was told "lose weight, exercise..." and I had tried to do these things and failed, repeatedly.

Then I was diagnosed with Leaky Gut...

Wait, what? My gut was leaking? What did that mean? What did that have to do with what I was experiencing with my health?

Can you relate?

The Leaky Gut diagnosis led me on a journey to discover what good health and a healthy weight might look like for me. I wondered how the condition of my gut could affect the ache in my big toe! I began studying gut health with Karen Langston.

Through my study to become a Healthy Gut Advisor, I discovered how my food and lifestyle choices had a direct connection to the symptoms my family and I dealt with every day.

I also discovered that although others may not struggle with excess weight many of the symptoms they did struggle with were directly connected with the gut. Although I was on my own journey of discovery, I was mindful of my parents, my husband, my daughter, my friends, my church family and others who struggled with many of these same symptoms and how the information I was learning could make a huge difference in their quality of life.

A lesson learned...

I thought I'd been eating fairly healthy. I also thought burning the candle at both ends was being productive and sleep was a luxury. This way of thinking led to the dis-ease in my body and ultimately Leaky Gut.

Coming to this understanding created a deep desire to share what I learned with others also seeking a healthier, happier, life. Life is too short not to live it happy, healthy, and well!

What I learned, I can teach to help you and your organization.
